Ravikumar Kashi, a multi-faceted artist born from Bangalore in 1968, completed his B.F.A. in painting from Chitrakala Parishat, Bangalore in 1988; M.F.A. in printmaking from the prestigious Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda in 1990; and M.A. in English from Mysore University, in 1995. He learnt handmade papermaking from Glasgow School of Art, U.K. He also learnt Hanji, traditional Korean papermaking, from Jang Ji Bang, Korea.
Through mediums like painting, sculpture, photography and installation, Ravi delivers layered works and engages the viewers on multiple levels. His works explore the idea of self and its interaction with the urban world, thus sparking deep introspection. He has also explored the themes of desire, gratification, consumerism and destruction in individuals and at the societal level.
