It is with a lot of excitement we announce that Art1st’s publication Art is a Verb, written by Likla and designed by Rohina Thapar, has won an IPPY Award. Art is a Verb is the recipient of the Bronze Medal in the Children’s Interactive Book Category at the 24th Annual Independent Publisher Book (IPPY) Awards!

Art is a Verb has been on quite an adventure since its release in October, 2019 in collaboration with AVID Learning at DAG, Mumbai. The creators then travelled with Bookaroo Literature Festival to Varanasi, Vadodara, Bhopal and Delhi. Back home, we celebrated the book at Peek-a-book Literature Festival in December. 2020 began magically at the Jaipur Literature Festival with an official launch by the esteemed Dr B N Goswamy. And now we’ve won an award!

The Independent Publisher Book Awards were conceived in 1996 as a broad-based, unaffiliated awards program open to all members of the independent publishing industry. The awards are intended to bring increased recognition to exemplary independent, university, and self-published titles produced each year, and reward those who exhibit the courage, innovation, and creativity to bring about change in the world of publishing. It is an honour to be a part of the IPPY2020 list. Click here for the full list of winners.
Art1st Publication introduces children to the exciting world of Indian Art. Art is a Verb is the first in our Arts Integration series, bringing together Art and Language. The book concurrently explores the works of Indian artists and the joy of verbs and action words. High on production and cleverly designed Art is a Verb was the perfect candidate for this IPPY Category. Click here to see what young readers have to say about Art is a Verb.
